Nutana Shade Garden

Having the opportunity to work in a shadier location is always an exciting challenge.

We have many plants to work with here that prefer a cooler home, away from direct sunlight. Hostas are an obvious choice! Sunking Spikenard, Yellow Creeping Jenny and Glow Girl Spirea bring a bright pop of chartreuse to light up the space.

I love pairing this smooth river stone with mini fur nugget mulch, the contrasting textures are superb! 

To be honest I am very envious of our clients yard and garden here! You can’t see it all in these photos but they have a magical space under these mature spruces and the shade really makes for a relaxing and cool place to enjoy. I truly enjoyed working in this space. Getting a break from the hot summer sun and making a new friend and client!
