Grosvenor park

Project Location: Grosvenor Park, Saskatoon, SK

Long and narrow yards can be tricky to design. The slope in this yard was considerable prior to our landscaping. My brain told me to level out the entrance into the yard, from the back door of the house, with a deck.  From the back deck, the slope of the yard is more gradual.

I had a great time designing this yard and breaking it up into these well-defined sections. The pathway leading from the deck up to the back gate really is the centerpiece of this design and it connects all of the sectioned garden elements. Our client had these gorgeous worn bricks she had taken great care to salvage. They blended in beautifully to create a landing pad just outside the garage door.

Our landscape lighting is from Kichler Lighting  and it flanks the main pathway from the deck right to the back gate.  I relied heavily on native grasses, to soften the hard edges of the pathway and create soft textured interest around the lights. My client had really hoped to have an ornamental feature tree incorporated into the design. I selected a hybrid Muckle Plum as it is the perfect size tree for this yard.

I am really excited to see this yard grow into its full potential!
